Warped fans in Las Vegas get a break

The Warped Tour is having mercy on Las Vegas.

The annual, all-day, punk-rock centered endurance test has been especially grueling here in recent years, where extreme June heat gets amplified by the asphalt lots that Warped has taken place upon.

Last year in the Silverton parking lot was especially brutal, as triple-digit temperatures had much of the crowd jockeying for shade as much as space in front of one of the many stages.

And so tour organizers recently, graciously announced a venue switch from the original location of the tour’s June 19 Vegas show, the concrete lot across from the Luxor, where Warped was held in 2012.

Now, Warped will take place on the grass-covered UNLV Intramural Fields, a much more welcoming — and welcomed — environment.

This should help with the heat, not to mention reduce the number of skinned knees from falling down in the pit.

Tickets purchased for Warped’s original location will still be honored at the new one.
