Old Crow Medicine Show getting folksy at The Linq

Old Crow Medicine Show makes even prison confinement sound like a cause for celebration.

The festive, adrenal gland-taxing Americana string band does so on “Brushy Mountain Conjugal Trailer,” the lead track from their latest album “Remedy,” a record that could turn a funeral procession into a hoedown.

The band began its career busking on street corners, where heart-exploding energy levels are needed to turn heads.

A decade and a half later, they’ve sold close to a million records and been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

With banjos blaring, feet stomping and some mean fiddle playing goosing their songs forward, the band has been one of the catalysts of a vintage-sounding folk revival that also includes the likes of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Mumford and Sons and Larry and His Flask.

And so this Medicine Show is both old and new at once.
