Julio Iglesias hits the suburbs

It’s hard to picture Julio Iglesias in the suburbs, but the plush Green Valley Ranch seems a better fit than maybe the Railroad Pass for the suave Spanish crooner.

The 67-year-old’s first show outside the resort corridor is sure to include a mix of Spanish and English ballads, and jokes about his young backup singers being too old for him. Offstage, he sent out a Christmas card showing five children in Santa hats, so any who come along for the ride are sure to stay busy in and around The District.

Tickets are $39.50-$78 for the 8 p.m. Saturday show in the resort’s Grand Events Center, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway. Call 547-5300.
