Jackson Browne playing The Pearl

Singer-songwriter Jackson Brown will perform at The Pearl at the Palms at 8 p.m. today. His familiar popular songs include “Doctor My Eyes” and “Running on Empty.”

Jackson Browne was one of the singer-songwriters who influenced Garth Brooks, and now Brooks’ mesmerizing acoustic performances in Las Vegas set the bar high for Browne doing the same today.

While Brooks patrolled an empty stage with an acoustic guitar, Browne does call in drummer Mauricio Lewack and guitarist Val McCallum for reinforcement, and sometimes even plugs in for an electric finale.

By most accounts though, the 64-year-old spends most of his time on acoustic guitar and piano and wings it with no set list. And sometimes he even heeds shouted requests for more obscure songs to play alongside familiar hits such as “Doctor My Eyes” and “Running On Empty,” synonymous with ’70s California country rock.
