Garrett celebrates Diamond birthday

Rob Garrett has lived in Las Vegas for 35 years, which allowed him to see Elvis 18 times at the Las Vegas Hilton.

But at some point, he decided the world had enough Elvis impersonators, so for the past 16 years — five of them in “Legends in Concert” — he’s been doing a tribute to Neil Diamond instead.

Garrett is back at The Cannery on Saturday, in celebration of Diamond’s 70th birthday on Monday and slightly ahead of his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in March.

An added degree of separation comes from background singer Elisia Tutt, who is the daughter of Diamond’s drummer, Ron Tutt. Admission is $10 for the 8 p.m. show at 2121 E. Craig Road; call 507-5757.
