Feel the funk with Charlie Wilson
November 25, 2010 - 11:55 pm
Crank up the bass and put that funk in our face. Charlie Wilson, one of three Tulsa siblings who founded The Gap Band in the early ’70s, keeps "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" and other old-school dance hits alive on his own.
Wilson is known as "Uncle Charlie" to youngsters such as Snoop Dogg and the "New Jack" school of singers he inspired. He beat prostate cancer into remission and now serves as a vocal advocate urging men to get screenings.
Wilson shares the Las Vegas Hilton stage with the "Saturday Love" duo of Alexander O’Neal and Cherrelle at 9 p.m. today and Saturday at the Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Road. Tickets are $66.45-$92.85; call 732-5755.
