Earl Turner unplugging at Suncoast
June 13, 2013 - 10:25 am
You may know Earl Turner as the high-energy singer who jumps up on tables and chairs. But “there’s a lot more to me than that,” he says.
That’s why he’s introducing a show billed as “Unplugged” Saturday and Sunday at the Suncoast. It’s more like he’s unplugging in attitude than going all-acoustic in format.
“For the most part it’s pretty acoustic,” he says, “but some of it’s plugged in because it’s just gotta be.”
Turner says the show is inspired by his 1970s college years performing at The Chez coffeehouse in Columbia, Mo. “What would I do if I were still at The Chez?” he wondered.
The answer, he says, involves everything from Bill Withers to Beyonce.
