D.R.I. blasting Bunkhouse

There was a time when D.R.I. was the Chuck Yeager of hardcore, attempting to break any and all land-speed records by storming through 22 songs in 18 minutes on their 1983 debut “Dirty Rotten LP.”

But then they got more into metal and largely abandoned the under-a-minute blasts of attitude and adrenaline in favor of meaty, alternately sardonic and socially aware thrash.

Three decades later, these dudes are still at it, and though they’re getting up there in years, their skill at intermingling humor and protest hasn’t grown old.
