Anthrax, Exodus headlining Metal Alliance Tour

So, what exactly does the Metal Alliance Tour bring together?

On treks past, it was disparate varieties of osmium-dense heaviness, from death metal to stoner rock.

This year, the bill is a bit more linear though no less worthy of an emergency room full of post-show sprained necks.

It’s headlined by a pair of pioneering thrash acts who first broke ground — and plenty of bones — in the ’80s with Anthrax, who will be performing their still-vital-sounding “Among the Living” album in its entirety, and Bay Area badasses Exodus. A direct descendent of those bands, beer-fed crossover throwbacks Municipal Waste, are also part of the lineup, which is rounded out by reefer metal bruisers High on Fire, whose monster truck riffs sound like Big Foot crushing your Toyota, and nouveau power metallers Holy Grail.

Longhairs, unite.
