3 new CDs you need
Three recommended new CDs released today:
Woods, “With Light and With Love”: These Brooklyn psych-folk workhorses sing of death while sounding ever more life affirming on their eighth album in as many years. Dig the nine-minute title track, which will have you working on your air bongo chops.
Triptykon, “Melana Chasmata”: Former Celtic Frost frontman Tom G. Warrior returns with the second album of sky darkening doom/goth/thrash metal from Triptykon, who are just as heavy when playing quietly as they are when punishing ears like they do their instruments.
The Afghan Whigs, “Do to the Beast”: On their first album in 16 years, these debonair Ohioans make up for lost time by continuing to sound lost in time, recalling the days when R&B and rock ’n’ roll were separated by little.
