Woody Allen directs ‘To Rome with Love’

The movie: “To Rome with Love”

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Woody Allen, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page

Writer and director: Woody Allen

The story: Essentially four stories in one, the movie follows a vacationing architect (Baldwin) reliving his youth, an average Roman (Benigni) who finds himself hounded by paparazzi, the misadventures of an Italian couple separated for a day, and an opera director (Allen) who thinks he’s found a star in a singing mortician.

The buzz: The movie’s been getting mixed reviews, but at this point, you pretty much know whether Allen is right for you.
