A look at some of the DVDs, CDs and books hitting stores this week:
DVDs
“56 Up” (not rated): If it’s been another seven years, it’s time for director Michael Apted to check in with his series of documentaries that began with 1964’s “Seven Up.”
Elsewhere, a psychiatrist (Julianne Moore) takes on a patient (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) whose multiple personalities are murder victims in the thriller “6 Souls” (R).
Topping today’s TV transfers: “Last Resort: The Complete First Season,” “Call of the Wildman: Season One” and “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis: The Complete Series.”
CDs
Jay-Z, “Magna Carta Holy Grail”: The new Jay-Z record, featuring production by such big names as Rick Rubin, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and Pharrell Williams, officially comes out next week, but it’s being made available for free Thursday to the first 1 million Android phone owners who download an app for the album.

Also in stores: Joe, “DoubleBack: Evolution of R&B”; and Pretty Lights, “A Color Map of the Sun.”
BOOKS
“Unseen” by Karin Slaughter: Detective Will Trent is unable to tell his girlfriend about his latest investigation as he is undercover posing as an ex-con. But when Sara’s stepson is gunned down, she ends up involved in the same case, with both she and Will in danger.
In another series continuation, vampire hunter Anita Blake battles a plague of zombies in “Affliction” by Laurell K. Hamilton.
