Spurlock directs ‘Greatest Movie’
May 19, 2011 - 1:02 am
The movie: “The Greatest Movie Ever Sold”
When: Opening Friday at Village Square
Cast: J.J. Abrams, Peter Berg, Noam Chomsky, Ralph Nader, Quentin Tarantino, Morgan Spurlock
Director: Morgan Spurlock
The story: A documentary about branding, advertising and product placement .
The buzz: Spurlock, who brought you “Super Size Me,” strikes again with a satirical look at the role product placement plays in life. Spurlock put his money where his mouth is, searching for sponsors willing to underwrite his $1.5 million budget in exchange for blatant on-screen promotion. (That explains why this movie’s full title is “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold.”)
