‘Something Borrowed’ hitting theaters

The movie: “Something Borrowed”

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson, John Krasinski, Colin Egglesfield

Director: Luke Greenfield

The story: A terminally single attorney falls for a former law school classmate — who’s engaged to her center-of-attention best friend — in this comedy-drama based on Emily Giffin’s novel.

The buzz: With weddings, royal and otherwise, in the air, the timing’s right for not one but two marriage-minded movies; this competes with the uptown-vs.-downtown “Jumping the Broom” for chick-flick supremacy this weekend. And if “Something Borrowed” does well enough, there’s always the possibility of a sequel based on Giffin’s follow-up book, “Something Blue.”
