The story: Following his publisher father’s death, newspaper heir Britt Reid teams up with his father’s assistant, Kato, to become a masked crime-fighting team.
The buzz: When "The Green Hornet" made its radio debut in 1936, it was as a "Lone Ranger" spinoff — because Britt’s father, Dan Reid, was the original Masked Man’s nephew. The hit radio show inspired a 1940 movie serial. And the 1966 TV version, inspired by "Batman’s" success, featured Van Williams as Britt Reid — but the breakout star was his high-kicking sidekick Kato, played by future martial arts legend Bruce Lee.
