In these uncertain times, we all want bright futures for our children. The best thing you could do for them right now? Train little Bobby or Susie to dedicate months of their life to constructing elaborate digital cityscapes only to have them carelessly torn asunder. If this summer is any indication, they’ll never want for food.
What: “Grown Ups 2”
The minions of “Despicable Me 2” ran away with the July 4th box office, leaving the Johnny Depp Western “The Lone Ranger” in the dust. According to studio estimates Sunday, the Universal animated sequel took in $82.5 million over the weekend and $142.1 million across the five-day holiday window.
The minions have overtaken “The Lone Ranger.” Universal’s animated sequel “Despicable Me 2” created box-office fireworks on the Fourth of July, earning $24.5 million.
The Lone Ranger is a spirit walker whose life can’t end in battle.
