A look at some of the DVDs, CDs and books hitting stores this week:
DVDs
Zyzzyx Road (not rated): It almost has to gross more money on DVD than it did in its limited theatrical release. This infamous 2006 thriller – starring Katherine Heigl and Tom Sizemore in a tale about murder, Las Vegas and the misspelled California road of its title – pulled in a whopping $30. But to be fair, that’s $34.15 in 2012 dollars.
Keeping things close to home, Las Vegas-based Ultimate Fighting Championship great Randy Couture portrays a special agent who must save a seemingly doomed plane in the actioner “Hijacked” (R).
Topping today’s TV transfers: The History miniseries “Hatfields & McCoys,” “Misfits Season One” and “Melrose Place: The Seventh and Final Season” volumes one and two.
CDs
Rick Ross, “God, Forgives, I Don’t”: God forgives, but apparently superstar rapper Rick Ross doesn’t.
Who knew?
He has always seemed like such a nice guy, you know, judging by tunes such as “Valley of Death,” “In Cold Blood” and “Rich Off Cocaine.”
Guess this means that if you eat the last piece of pizza at this dude’s crib, you are, like, totally screwed.
Also in stores: The Alchemist, “Russian Roulette; Attika 7, “Blood of My Enemies”; Celtic Thunder, “Voyage II”; Kasey Chambers, “Storybook”; Charm City Devils, “Sins”; Gloriana, “A Thousand Miles Left Behind”; Bruce Hornsby, “Red Hook Summer: Music from the Original Motion Picture”; Jackyl, “Best in Show”; Reel Big Fish, “Candy Coated Fury”; Joss Stone, “The Soul Sessions, Vol. 2”; Testament, “Dark Roots of Earth”; Toadies, “Play.Rock.Music.”; and Pat Travers, “Blues on Fire.”
BOOKS
“Odd Apocalypse” by Dean Koontz: The fifth in the series featuring the funny fry cook who can see ghosts finds Odd Thomas trying to help a spirit on horseback by saving her son.
On the nonfiction front, actress Jeanne Cooper shares the ups and downs of her life and soap opera career in “Not Young, Still Restless.”
