DVDs

“Battleship” (PG-13): When aliens attack in the middle of naval war games, it’s up to Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker to save the day in this action spectacle ever so loosely based on the board game.

Elsewhere, Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union and Taraji P. Henson lead the cast of “Think Like a Man” (PG-13), based on the self-help book by Steve Harvey. A Marine (Zac Efron) romances a single mom (Taylor Schilling) in “The Lucky One” (PG-13), based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. Hugh Grant, Jeremy Piven and Salma Hayek lend their voices to the stop-motion “The Pirates! Band of Misfits” (PG), from Britain’s Aardman Animations. And a dissatisfied wife (Diane Keaton) befriends a lost dog in “Darling Companion” (PG-13), a comedy-drama from “The Big Chill” writer-director Lawrence Kasdan.

Topping today’s TV transfers: “Homeland: The Complete First Season,” “Sons of Anarchy: Season Four,” “The Walking Dead: The Complete Second Season,” “Boardwalk Empire: The Complete Second Season,” “Once Upon a Time: The Complete First Season,” “Two and a Half Men: The Complete Ninth Season,” “In Plain Sight: Season Five,” “Jersey Shore: Season Five (Uncensored)” and “Streets of San Francisco: The Complete Fourth Season.”

CDs

Dierks Bentley, “Country & Cold Cans”: “Country & Cold Cans”?

What, was “Stereotypes & Suds” already taken?

Dierks Bentley’s formulaic country is no more imaginative than said album title.

But hey, plenty of you will still drink it up.

“Last to Die” by Tess Gerritsen: Detective Jane Rizzoli partners with medical examiner Maura Isles in an effort to help a 14-year-old boy who has been left orphaned by mass murder not once but twice in the latest in this series on which the “Rizzoli & Isles” television show is based.

And in another series that spawned a TV show (“Bones”), “Bones Are Forever” by Kathy Reichs finds forensic anthropologist Tempe Brennan investigating the deaths of three infants.

Also hitting shelves: “The Beautiful Mystery” by Louise Penny; “Death of a Neighborhood Witch” by Laura Levine; “Defiance” by C.J. Redwine; “Devil Said Bang” by Richard Kadrey; “Every Love Story Is a Ghost Story: A Life of David Foster Wallace” by D.T.
