The story: When an evil queen steals control of a kingdom, an exiled princess enlists the help of seven clever rebels to reclaim her birthright.

The buzz: This 21st-century take on “Snow White” puts the accent on twisted humor — and a resourceful princess who’s hardly a damsel in distress. But it’s only the first “Snow” to fall in 2012: “Twilight’s” Kristen Stewart, “Thor’s” Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron headline “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which hits theaters June 1.
