Foster, Winslet star in ‘Carnage’

The movie: “Carnage”

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, John C. Reilly

Director: Roman Polanski

The story: After a playground scuffle between their sons, parents meet for a polite discussion — which promptly escalates into savage verbal warfare.

The buzz: The Tony-winning Broadway version of Yasmina Reza’s comedy of bad manners, originally titled “God of Carnage,” starred James Gandolfini, Jeff Daniels, Marcia Gay Harden and Hope Davis; the movie adaptation ups the Oscar quotient, with previous winners Foster, Winslet and Waltz (not to mention director Polanski), along with “Chicago” nominee Reilly.
