First Look: ‘Total Recall’ remake packed with stars

The movie: “Total Recall”

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston and Bill Nighy

Director: Len Wiseman

The story: A frustrated factory worker (Farrell) visits Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories, to sample life as a spy. When the procedure goes wrong, he ends up on the run from both the police and his wife (Beckinsale), with only a rebel fighter (Biel) to trust.

The buzz: The cast is certainly better. And after 22 years, the special effects must be better. But only time will tell if this remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle, based on the Philip K. Dick story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale,” is better. But, then, all anyone really seems to remember about that version is the three-breasted hooker.
