First Look: ‘The Wizard of Oz 3D’

What: “The Wizard of Oz 3D”

Cast: Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Billie Burke and Margaret Hamilton

Director: Victor Fleming

The story: Young Dorothy Gale (Garland) is whisked away by a tornado and transported to a magical land in this 1939 classic that’s been converted to 3-D for a one-week release in IMAX theaters.

The buzz: Purists may object, but if remastering a 74-year-old film in 3-D is what it takes to get young audiences to see something this fantastic, so be it. Purists can stay home and pretend it doesn’t exist.
