First Look: Terror guaranteed in classic remake

What: “Evil Dead”

When: Opening Friday

Cast: Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore

Director: Fede Alvarez

The story: In a remote cabin, five 20-somethings become possessed, one by one, after reading from a Book of the Dead in this remake of the 1981 cult classic.

The buzz: The poster promises “The most terrifying film you will ever experience.” If that’s not enough to sway fans of the original, they can take heart in knowing that writer-director Sam Raimi hand-picked Alvarez to direct this version and worked closely with him on the script. And the great Bruce Campbell is onboard as a producer.
