First Look: ‘Scary Movie’ franchise losing it edge

What: “Scary Movie V”

When: Opening Friday

Cast: Ashley Tisdale, Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Snoop Dogg, Katt Williams and Mike Tyson

Director: Malcolm D. Lee

The story: For its fifth installment, the horror-spoof franchise sends up “Paranormal Activity”-style haunting movies.

The buzz: The first four movies have grossed more than $800 million worldwide, but this one seems a bit tired. Not only is this the first installment without Anna Faris or Regina Hall, it also comes on the heels of the similar “A Haunted House,” from “Scary Movie’s” Marlon Wayans.
