First Look: People ready to talk about ‘The Heat’

What: “The Heat”

Cast: Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy and Marlon Wayans

Writer: Katie Dippold

Director: Paul Feig

The story: An uptight FBI agent (Bullock) and a crude Boston detective (McCarthy) team up to take down a drug lord in this buddy-cop comedy.

The buzz: After her breakout turn in “Bridesmaids,” also directed by Feig, McCarthy is arguably the buzziest actress in Hollywood. Combine their track record with a lack of recent female-driven movies, and people could spend nearly as much time this summer talking about “The Heat” as they do talking about the heat.
