First Look: Hopkins won’t court Oscar nomination

What: “Hitchcock”

When: Opening Friday

Cast: Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, Danny Huston, Toni Collette and Jessica Biel

Director: Sacha Gervasi

The story: The romance between Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife and collaborator, Alma Reville (Helen Mirren), is explored using the filming of “Psycho” as a framework.

The buzz: Hopkins and Mirren are in the Oscar conversation, but an interview he gave the Huffington Post may have hurt Hopkins’ chances. Not that he likely cares. “(H)aving to be nice to people and to be charming and flirting with them … oh, come on! People go out of their way to flatter the nominating body and I think it’s kind of disgusting,” he said. “That’s always been against my nature.”
