First Look: ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’

What: “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters”

When: Opening Friday

Cast: Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen and Peter Stormare

Writer-director: Tommy Wirkola

The story: Fifteen years after Hansel (Renner) and Gretel (Arterton) escaped certain death in the famous fairy tale, they’ve dedicated their lives to ridding every dark forest of witches.

The buzz: Who knows? It looks like “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” meets “Snow White and the Huntsman,” neither of which were terribly good. And Paramount doesn’t want critics to see it. But it’s produced by Will Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions, which could mean it’s awesome. And it’s available in IMAX 3-D, which only makes things awesomer. More awesome? Whatever.
