First Look: ‘Gangster Squad’

The story: In 1949 Los Angeles, a secret LAPD detail (led by Brolin and Gosling), set out to take down mob king Mickey Cohen (Penn).

The buzz: The drama was originally set to open on Sept. 7. But in the wake of the Aurora, Colo., movie theater shootings, the drama was pushed back four months to give the filmmakers time to reconfigure it after cutting a shootout scene set in a movie theater.
