First Look: ‘Family Guy’ creator hits the big screen

The movie: “Ted”

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Joel McHale, Giovanni Ribisi and the voice of Seth MacFarlane

Writer and director: Seth MacFarlane

The story: A childhood wish made a young boy’s teddy bear come to life, and now that bear is a foul-mouthed, hooker-loving menace coming between its best friend (Wahlberg) and his girlfriend (Kunis) in this very adult comedy.

The buzz: Between a dearth of big-screen comedy and curiosity about how far “Family Guy” creator MacFarlane can go without the – admittedly lax – network censors looking over his shoulder, this could be the sleeper hit of the summer.
