Another ‘Snow White’ hitting screens

The movie: “Snow White and the Huntsman”

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Ian McShane, Ray Winstone, Bob Hoskins

Director: Rupert Sanders

The story: Who’s the fairest of them all? Not the evil queen, who orders a huntsman to slay the innocent Snow White – a task he finds he’s unable to complete, instead training Snow White as a warrior, enabling her to challenge the queen’s reign.

The buzz: The year’s second spin on “Snow White” (after the earlier, lighter “Mirror Mirror”), this dark fairy tale gives Stewart the chance to kick some butt, countering the passivity of her trademark “Twilight” role, while Theron (who reportedly dropped out of “J. Edgar” for this) takes on Julia Roberts’ evil-queen routine in “Mirror Mirror.”
