Las Vegas man to appear on ‘The Voice’

Ryan Whyte Maloney is hoping to hit the national stage this season on NBC’s “The Voice.”

The Michigan native moved to Las Vegas in 2006 with his band of five years, Indulge. The group hoped to make a name for themselves in the Entertainment Capital of the World, but ended up disbanding. Only Maloney continued to pursue a career in music.

He switched up his style a bit, describing it as an infusion of alternative and country with some “life inspiration,” and started playing shows along the Strip with the newly formed Ryan Whyte Maloney Band.

His solo appearance on “The Voice” is just the latest step he’s taken toward establishing himself as a force in the music world, after releasing an album in 2010 (“Where I’ve Been”) and performing at bars and festivals throughout the country to promote it.

We won’t know if Maloney will make it through auditions until early next week, but regardless of how the competition goes, Maloney has a lofty goal for his solo career: “(make) the world unite due to positive music that inspires everyone to open their eyes to beauty, truth, freedom and love of music.”

Maloney will appear during one of the remaining blind audition episodes of “The Voice.” The episodes air Monday at 8 p.m. and Tuesday at 9 p.m. on KSNV (channel 3).
