Goodbye Tangerine, hello LAX

Pure Management Group always has had the goal of being the best company on the nightlife/entertainment scene.

And with LAX’s arrival just two weeks away, it’s about to put another massive mark on the nightclub world with its newest venture at the Luxor.

But as the company welcomes its latest addition, it also will bid adieu to one of its first projects when the doors at Tangerine nightclub close a day after LAX is introduced to Las Vegas partygoers.

The sexy club inside Treasure Island will shut down for good on Sept. 1 to undergo a major renovation and expansion in what has become a recent trend.

“We have enjoyed an amazing three years with Tangerine at TI,” said Robert Frey, managing partner for Pure Management Group. “While we are sad to say goodbye (to Tangerine), we are very excited about the transformation that will begin shortly.”

Tangerine will enter retirement in style, though, with rocker Dave Navarro hosting the final night at the club during Labor Day weekend.

The venue was a solid alterative for those seeking something smaller than a mega-club like Pure, Tao, Tryst or Jet and something bigger than a lounge like Caramel, Mist or Lure.

The company has hired New York design firm Seed to orchestrate its soon-to-be newest family member.

Sources inside Pure Management Group have said to expect something completely different than what Tangerine looked like, which means that Caribbean, tropical vibe that was so prevalent inside the venue will no longer be found.

You also can anticipate the new nightclub will pick up some much-needed square footage with the redesign. The only main knock on Tangerine was the lack of space. On weekends, the dance floor is jam-packed with the VIP areas (“pods”) and outdoor patio the only escapes from the extremely close quarters.

And you could forget about finding any room to move during the club’s weekly “Moonshine” party on Wednesdays, which catered to locals and others working in the nightclub industry. Even the VIP areas were packed.

The new venue also will be renamed, meaning “Tangerine” will disappear when the doors shut for good.

Tiësto returning to Vegas — World-renowned DJ Tiësto is racking up the frequent-flyer mileage as he makes another stop in Las Vegas over Labor Day weekend for a two-show visit at Jet nightclub.

Having just played Rehab — the Hard Rock Hotel’s weekly Sunday pool party — on Sunday, Tiësto hits the turntables Sept. 2 and Sept. 3 at the venue inside The Mirage.

What makes the event extra special is the fact that Jet will open its doors on Sunday, which is normally a day off for the nightclub.
