‘Jazz Under the Stars’ kicks off with Groove

Saxophonist Euge Groove and guitarists Paul Brown and Steve Oliver will perform Sunday in promoter Michael Schivo’s first “Jazz Under the Stars” concert of the season at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, 18 miles west of Las Vegas off West Charleston Boulevard.

Show time is 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $68 in advance and $70 at the gate. They are available at Mr. Bills Pipe and Tobacco locations and the UNLV Performing Arts Center box office by calling 895-2787.

Low back chairs and picnic baskets are permitted.

Impersonators honored at Reel Awards show

Impersonators, tribute artists and celebrity look-alikes will be honored Sunday at the 16th annual Reel Awards in the Imperial Theatre at the Imperial Palace, 3535 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The awards, starting at 6:30 p.m. with a red carpet event and show at 7:30 p.m., recognize the talents and achievements of individuals or groups in the impersonation field.

Hosted by Dee Dee Hanson, a Joan Rivers impersonator, and Bettina Williams as Whoopi Goldberg, the show will present awards to best actor and actress, best television performance, rising star and lifetime achievement.

Farmer’s market caters to fans of soul food

The Soul Food Farmer’s Market will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and the last Saturday of each month, at Edmond Town Center, Owens Avenue and H Street.

The market will offer the customary fresh produce along with hot soul food, including barbecue, greens, catfish, potato salad and macaroni and cheese.

Singers, musicians and dancers will provide entertainment.
