Home improvement, decor show returns

An Antique Alley is the latest addition to the Las Vegas Home Improvement & Decorating Show, set for this weekend at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Antiques exhibitors will set up among the 450 booths planned for the annual spring show. On-site appraisers will be on hand as well, and will accept as many as three requests for a nominal fee per item.

A cooking demonstration stage also will be featured, with a variety of chefs offering tips for outdoor meals.

The designer rooms competition between the Art Institute of Las Vegas and the International Academy of Design and Technology will focus on chefs, including Las Vegas Master Chef Gustav Mauler, Alex Stratta from Wynn Las Vegas, and Elia Aboumrad and Marcel Vigneron from Bravo’s “Top Chef” TV show.

Nevada Cooperative Extension master gardeners will provide information and offer a hands-on activity for children who bring an empty plastic water bottle.

The show will run from noon to 8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $7 per day; seniors, $6; and children age 12 and older, $3.50. For more information, call 386-7100.
