Entertain Mom with evening of dancing

Bring the family and celebrate Mother’s Day with an evening of music and dancing from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

Learn fun new moves and show off your talent in a dance contest. Light refreshments will be served.

Tickets are $3. Children 5 years old and younger will be admitted free. For more information, call 229-1515.

The family dance is presented by the Performing Arts Division of the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services and co-sponsored by Univision Radio.

Also, for those who like to salsa dance, Mario Arseno and his Vega Sabor Orchestra will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. May 19 at the center. To refresh your moves, arrive early at 7 p.m. for a salsa workshop.

Tickets are $10.

Museum celebrates mothers, Liberace

May marks what would have been Liberace’s 88th birthday, and the Liberace Foundation and Museum will host a special celebration and Mother’s Day event from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

During the event the museum will present the debut of the new cookbook “Joy of Liberace, Retro Recipes from America’s Kitschiest Kitchen,” which is the first cookbook officially authorized by the Liberace Foundation.

Authors Karan Feder and Michael Feder will greet guests and sign copies of the book, which includes never-before-seen photos of Liberace with family and friends.

A portion of the sales proceeds will benefit the Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts scholarship program.
