Vegas Cruise set for this weekend

The Fremont Street Experience’s annual Vegas Cruise, featuring concerts, a car show and a ’50s theme, is scheduled for this weekend.

The event will feature live music by Jimmy Bond, the Temptation Review, Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels and Cornell Gunter’s Coasters.

The car show will include more than 200 classic cars.

Concerts are scheduled from 8 to 11 p.m. today and 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, while the car show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Saturday and 8 a.m. to noon Sunday.

Firefighter auction to benefit charities

Twenty local firefighters will be up for bid at the ninth annual “Fire and Rain” Firefighter Bachelor Auction.

The event, which will feature performances by Thunder From Down Under and The Scintas, is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Rain Nightclub at the Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road.

Proceeds will benefit Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada and the Lion’s Burn Care Center.

Admission is $40 for women, $80 for men.
