Zero Gravity’s ‘Star Trek’ flight takes William Shatner to the final frontier

The original Cpt. Kirk, actor William Shatner, is giving fans for the first time an opportunity to fly in zero gravity with him. “Star Trek” fans can rejoice because the unique and exclusive flight is set for Aug. 4 with take-off from Las Vegas.

Said William in a news release: “Going weightless will turn a dream into reality. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to actually explore the final frontier, and now I have the opportunity to experience zero gravity firsthand. It will be an incredible adventure.”

Zero Gravity Corp. has partnered with “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry’s son, Rod Roddenberry, to offer Zero-G Experience with William. The weightless flight coincides with the annual Star Trek Convention, which attracts thousands of worldwide fans here.

Pilots at the helm of the Boeing 727 named G-Force One will take William and his passengers through 15 parabolic maneuvers for as long as 30 seconds of weightlessness in each spin cycle. At the top of each arc, passengers will fly through the plane as if it’s a floating playground.

They will perform tricks and flips to share a world known only by a small fraction of the population. Photos of the flight with the “Star Trek” commander will be accompanied by a certificate of weightless completion as a souvenir.

“We want our travelers to have a journey they won’t soon forget. Creating these weightless moments with the Roddenberry team helps us provide a remarkable memory this group will be able to share with one of the biggest names in entertainment,” said Zero-G CEO Terese Brewster.

Rod Roddenberry, CEO and founder of Roddenberry Adventures, added: “Our partnership with Zero-G has opened amazing doors for ‘Star Trek’ lovers, especially those who want to truly experience what it feels like to float in space with the man who helped solidify the ‘Star Trek’ legacy.”

The cost? It’s $9,950, but you also get to keep the flight suit! To purchase a spot, visit GoZeroG.com.
