Wicked Whispers + Racy Rumors: Is Celine Dion headed to IMG?
April 6, 2017 - 4:26 pm
We have two delicious Wicked Whispers + Racy Rumors this thirsty Thursday in Las Vegas:
In a management shakeup at Celine Dion’s camp, is the Caesars Palace headliner superstar singer about to sign with the giant IMG agency?
Twice in recent conversations with Celine, she has hinted that she was going to take a more active role in decisions about her career.
I do not see this shakeup in any sense as a problem. I believe it’s a growing maturity where she is taking charge of her business decisions once handled by her late longtime husband and manager Rene Angelil, who passed away from throat cancer in January 2016.
Per The Canadian Press today, Celine announced that Aldo Giampaolo, who replaced Rene as her manager in 2014, has resigned for “personal and family reasons.” Aldo was Celine’s only manager other than Rene.
Celine said in a news release that Aldo is leaving his position with CDA Productions Inc., the company that manages her career, for “personal and family reasons.”
“I sincerely appreciate all that Aldo has done for me and respect his decision to resign,” she said. “I wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Rene stepped back from the day-to-day running of his megastar wife’s career in June 2014 and turned it over to Aldo, who was a longtime friend. Before replacing Rene, Aldo was president and CEO of a media division at Quebecor.
Be sure to check back Friday here and in Friday Neon for our look at Celine’s astonishing 15-year run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
In culinary news, congratulations to Daniel Humm, whose restaurant Eleven Madison Park in New York City was named the best restaurant in the world by The World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards in Melbourne, Australia, on Wednesday.
Daniel is bringing a restaurant to the newly transformed Park MGM that is taking the place of Monte Carlo.
