Wendy Albert’s favorite dishes at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood

Editor’s Note: After a glorious nearly month-long family vacation in the Italian and Sicilian countryside, Robin Leach is back and resuming his new daily columns. Today, his debut Friday Neon column in the Las Vegas Review-Journal has an exclusive preview of next week’s Magic Live! convention for 1,600 worldwide magicians, conjurors, illusionists and would-be Harry Potter wizards. On Sunday in the RJ’s Sunday Life, Robin turns the spotlight on Gordon Ramsay and the topless temptresses of FANTASY.
We’ll continue guest columnists in August while Robin works from the cooler climes of La Jolla near San Diego in advance of our newly designed website launching soon. Today, one of his guest columns is by Wendy Albert, senior marketing director at The Miracle Mile Shops in Planet Hollywood. As you’ll read, Wendy confesses to being very fond of shopping, shoes and food. The other is by new Las Vegas resident Phil Shabat, who just opened Dave & Buster’s in Downtown Summerlin. Here’s Wendy:
By Wendy Albert
If I was told that I could only do one thing for the rest of my life, it would be very difficult for me to choose between my two passions: shopping and eating. Over the years, I have worked very hard to become an expert at pursuing the best that stores and restaurants have to offer.
Keep in mind that I consider the best to be everything from a comfy T-shirt from H&M to a beautiful gown at Herve Leger and seafood pasta at Lombardi’s Romagna Mia to a delicious buffalo chicken wing at Buffalo Wild Wings. I have varied tastes.
The great thing about working at Miracle Mile Shops is I am able to satisfy my hunger — pun intended — for food, clothes and shoes in one location all in the name of “research.” I need to fully understand what our merchants offer in order to do my job … yes, I think I have reached my #jobgoals.
With that being said, the best way to fill your stomach and shopping bags at the shopping center is with our current promotion, “Shop & Eat.” Through Aug. 31, we’re offering a $20 dining certificate at certain restaurants for every $200 spent in our stores.
Since we have more than 16 restaurants, each with more options than I can count, I’ve listed some of the dishes that I find myself ordering again and again. Make sure to try these tasty dishes next time you’re working up an appetite shopping at Miracle Mile Shops.
Buffalo Wild Wings
Miracle Mile Shops just opened the first Buffalo Wild Wings on the Las Vegas Strip, and I think BWW has the best wings. My go-to pick is wings in medium sauce with blue cheese dressing, but the Asian Zing sauce is starting to take over as a favorite.
Cabo Wabo Cantina
Baja shrimp ceviche served with spicy tortilla chips and a margarita made with Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Tequila. These are best enjoyed on the patio watching all of the people on the Strip.
Lombardi’s Romagna Mia
If you like pasta, cream sauces and truffles like I do, you must try the paglia e fieno, which is made with green and white tagliolini pasta tossed with chicken, wild mushrooms, truffle oil and cream sauce. Yummy!
Lobster ME
Lobster Mac & Cheese. I think this needs no explanation, the ultimate comfort food with lobster. OMG!
Pampas Churrascaria Brazilian Grille
You have to love a restaurant that serves different kinds of meat cooked over a fire and carved tableside. The best part is it is all-you-can-eat. A tip: Don’t do what I do and fill up on the delicious salad bar before the meat starts arriving.
PBR Rock Bar & Grill
I think potatoes are the most perfect food on the planet. PBR Rock Bar & Grill serves them many delicious ways, but my favorite is potato chip nachos. Add BBQ pork, and it is a meal. There’s enough to share, but I’m not very good at sharing these yummy morsels.
Sin City Brewing Co.
Miracle Mile Shops is lucky to have award-winning brewer Rich Johnson creating his famous, delicious beer right here in Las Vegas. Rich’s Sin City Weisse with a squeeze of lemon is perfect for our hot summer days (and nights).
If these dishes don’t tempt you — although I’m not sure how they can’t — some of our new restaurants that will be coming this fall might. Nacho Daddy and Hot N Juicy Crawfish will open their first locations on the Strip at Miracle Mile Shops, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Bon appetit, and happy shopping!
Be sure to check out our other guest columnist today from Phil Shabat, who just opened the eagerly awaited Dave & Busters in Downtown Summerlin. In his debut column in Friday Neon of the RJ, Robin provides a preview of next week’s Magic Live! convention for magicians and illusionists from all over the world.
