Review: Tyson Beckford returns to revamped Chippendales — PHOTOS

Updated April 17, 2017 - 9:48 am

It’s gettin’ hot in here, so let Tyson Beckford and The Chippendales take off all their clothes — and the handsome hunks did just that (well, most of their clothes) at the official grand opening and media night April 7 to a crowd brimming with the usual bachelorette parties (including one for twin sisters) and birthday girls and, this night, hard-working Las Vegas journalists.

After missing guest-starring turns by actor and model Antonio Sabato Jr. (thankfully) and “America’s Next Top Model” and “Dancing With the Stars” charming champion Nyle DiMarco (fortunately, a one-on-one Q+A still occurred before his run), it was time to return to The Rio for the model and actor’s second guest-starring appearance as host and performer.

Beckford broke box office records during his engagement in 2015. “It feels great to be back — it’s like I never left,” Beckford said in a news release. “Las Vegas is my home away from home, and I love the camaraderie with the guys here at Chippendales. It’s so much fun to come to work — we have the best audiences, and the energy in this theater is incredible.

“I’m just living in this great moment and not even thinking about when it’s going to end.”

In attending at least six Chippendales shows, the updated version April 7 is the strongest and sexiest one yet with new numbers, music and choreography — and fan- and cast-favorite Beckford at the helm. It seems as if bared derrieres are at an all-time high in the show, and it was great to see Jon Howes take on an MC role and Kyle Efthemes return to the stage.

One memorable moment April 7: Identical twin bachelorettes who are about to have a double wedding together tore off Beckford’s tank top onstage. The opening reception at Flirt Lounge at Chippendales Theater featured Beckford and Chippendales cast members, small bites by Guy Fieri’s El Burro Borracho at The Rio and cocktails.

During his run in 2015, one reviewer wrote, “Fans of Beckford will not leave the show disappointed, as he not only flexes his buff bod throughout the adult male revue, but also bares his backside in a solo act. … Beckford fits like a glove in Chippendales.”

Other celebrities who have donned the iconic cuffs and collar include Jeff Timmons, Ricardo Laguna, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Jake Pavelka, Joey Lawrence and Ian Ziering. Beckford continues in Chippendales through June. Thanks to Denise Truscello and David Becker of WireImage for their photo gallery.

Is it still hot in here?
