Red Carpet Report: ‘One Night for One Drop’ set for March 3, G2E, Al Capone, Criss Angel, Heather Dubrow

The fifth-annual original production ONE NIGHT FOR ONE DROP imagined by Cirque du Soleil has been set for next March 3 at Cirque’s ZUMANITY theater in New York-New York. ONE NIGHT supports One Drop, the international nonprofit started by Cirque founder Guy Laliberte dedicated to providing global access to safe water.

The fourth-annual ONE NIGHT was at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in March, the first time the production was presented outside a Cirque theater and away from the Strip. Expect ONE NIGHT to be spicier at the home of ZUMANITY?!

NEW SLOTS

Next week’s Global Gaming Expo for the casino industry at Sands Convention Center will include newcomers. Rio headliner magicians Penn & Teller from the Rio will cut the ribbon for their first slot machine Tuesday, and the son of film legends Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart will attend Wednesday.

Stephen Bogart will cut the ribbon on Everi’s new CASABLANCA slot machine. The 1942 film classic, one of my all-time favorites, ranks No. 2 in the list of 100 Greatest American Movies of All Time, according to The American Film Institute.

(Trivia: What’s No. 1 on the list? Answer: CITIZEN KANE.)

A LONG JOURNEY

It took 78 years for the Feds and IRS to seize and forfeit a gun from a criminal that had belonged to one-time Mob boss Al Capone. The .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver with its distinctive pearl grip will be unveiled as a historic artifact at our Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, next Tuesday.

It was confiscated in an arrest of Al when the “founder” of Las Vegas lived in Miami, but somehow the gun wound up with another criminal. IRS chief Richard Weber will reveal the intriguing backstory next week for the first time before it goes on display Wednesday.

BRITNEY’S FAMILY

Our Planet Hollywood headliner pop princess Britney Spears is pals with fellow clients Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj and Madonna, singing stars represented by Las Vegas resident Larry Rudolph’s Maverick Management. On Wednesday, his partners at Maverick, Guy Oseary and Scott Rodger, signed country superstar Shania Twain and tenor Andrea Bocelli, who will be here at MGM Grand in December for his annual holiday appearance.

Other Maverick clients include Amy Schumer, U2, Paul McCartney, Fifth Harmony and The Weeknd. Whether or not this means a star surveillance of Shania at BRITNEY: PIECE OF ME at Axis at Planet Hollywood or future collaborations remain to be seen. Don’t think I pen these gossip gems idly!

ANGEL HONORED

MINDFREAK LIVE! at The Luxor headliner magician Criss Angel, who will be on the October cover of our sister Luxury magazine as you’ve never seen him before, will be honored Friday, Sept. 30, for his fight against pediatric cancer by the third-annual gala benefiting The Tyler Robinson Foundation.

Chris Harrison (ABC’s THE BACHELOR) will host the event at Palace Ballroom at Caesars Palace with Grammy Award-winning band Imagine Dragons, who are behind the foundation, performing and actresses Alexandra Daddario and Kim Raver attending.

THANK A COP WEEK

Despite the rioting in Charlotte, N.C., this is Thank a Cop Week in Nevada honoring the brave men and women in blue who serve and protect our communities. The Injured Police Officers Fund honors the Nevada law enforcement community tonight at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country in Town Square. This is a special shout-out to the Heroes Live Forever Country Gala saluting and honoring officers’ sacrifices.

The fund helps reduce the financial burden suffered by police officers and their families in the event of a line of duty injury and provides aid to families of slain officers or those severely wounded in the line of duty. Elvis Monroe provides the music. There also is line-dancing lessons and a mechanical bull challenge all for a $20 tax-deductible donation at the door. It’s free for our officers. Please do your part!

HUGE TRAVEL STATS

One truly understands the power of travel while listening to U.S. Travel Association President Roger Dow when he talked this morning at the power breakfast of the Las Vegas Chapter of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association at The Tropicana.

In America, it’s a $2.1 trillion business responsible for 15 million jobs. Here in Southern Nevada, it’s our top industry, generating $51.8 billion in economic output. Tourism here supports 368,900 jobs, which is 41.4 percent of our workforce. Impressive!

PODCAST POWER

Riotous reality-TV star Heather Dubrow from THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ORANGE COUNTY is coming to House of Blues at Mandalay Bay on Oct. 13 to host her live podcast. Her husband will be one of her Las Vegas guests.

Expect fireworks with her to put him right through her wringer! It’s her second time producing the show here. The first was a sell-out and so successful prompted bookings in Chicago, Minneapolis and San Francisco.
