Red Carpet Report: Kym Johnson’s bachelorette party in L.V.; Steve Wynn; Florian ‘Venom’ Kohler; Clique Hospitality
August 2, 2016 - 2:32 pm
Hours after having a final bachelorette fling in Sin City, ABC’s DANCING WITH THE STARS beauty Kym Johnson married her multimillionaire boyfriend Robert Herjavec, who stars on ABC’s SHARK TANK.
Her girlfriends and she spent Friday and Saturday here in hotel mogul Robert Earl’s penthouse suite at Planet Hollywood. They dined at Koi, then watched Jennifer Lopez’s resident show ALL I HAVE. Kym sat alongside fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman, and guests also included DWTS cast member Cheryl Burke and fashion expert Carson Kressley.
Kym, 39, raced back to Los Angeles early Sunday in time for her wedding, where she wore a white strapless gown and her 53-year-old beau wore a matching white tuxedo jacket. The couple fell in love while partners on DWTS in 2015. This is Kym’s first marriage, while Robert ended his 26-year marriage in 2014.
DWTS cast members in attendance: judge Carrie Ann Inaba and pro dancers Derek Hough and Mark Ballas. It sure was Kym’s final fling with not a day in between single status in Las Vegas and exchanging vows!
POOL TRICK SHOTS
It was a midnight visit to Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s gym to watch Las Vegas pool ace Florian “Venom” Kohler shoot new videos of his extraordinary skills at a billiards table (in England, we call it snooker).
I watched spellbound as he performed trick shot after trick shot that were not only unbelievable but also defied gravity. Check out his YouTube video filmed in Las Vegas to see what I mean.
Venom then challenged me to see how I would do. He promised that if I followed his instructions, I, too, could become a trick shot artist. You can now see the results here. I swear on a stack of Bibles that nothing was edited.
I just held the cue stick properly and struck the balls at the sweet-spot perfect angle per Venom’s orders. I was shocked at what I did, and you can see it for yourself! Take a look at all of Venom’s trick shot YouTube videos because his skills are truly incredible.
L.V. NIGHTLIFE MOVES EAST
Clique Hospitality, who has helped transform nightlife here with Light and Daylight at Mandalay Bay and Clique at The Cosmopolitan and dining at Bottiglia and Borracha at Green Valley Ranch, is moving eastward. Andy Masi, co-founder of Clique, and his team including chef partner Brian Massie, have been tapped by MGM Resorts International to launch their two first East Coast venues at MGM National Harbor on the Potomac.
The entertainment venues will be the 24-hour gaming lounge Blossom Cocktail in a nod to cherry blossom trees that are everywhere you turn in the Washington, D.C., area. The other hotspot is Felt Bar & Lounge with three interior areas for guests with dancing, three communal tables for mingling and a cozy chair conversation lounge, plus a spacious outdoor terrace with fire pit and nautical-inspired chairs and couches.
Clique Hospitality, headquartered in Las Vegas, also has just moved into California not far from where I am in La Jolla. They will open Lionfish, The Oxford Social Club and an indoor outdoor rooftop lounge, The Pool House, at Pendry San Diego before year’s end in the Gaslamp District.
L.V., NOT RIO, FOR OLYMPIAN
Gymnast Tamara Yerofeyeva, a four-time world champion who competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, is staying home in Las Vegas instead of flying to Rio de Janeiro for this year’s Olympics that has its opening ceremony Friday.
Tamara appears nightly in V – THE ULTIMATE VARIETY SHOW at The V Theater in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops. Why fly all the way to Brazil when you can see Tamara on the Strip? She has trained her entire life to become one of the world’s most accomplished rhythmic gymnasts.
WYNN JUGGLES TWO PROJECTS
As Steve Wynn gets ready for the grand-opening celebrations of his $4.2 billion Wynn Macau Palace set for Aug. 22, he also is juggling Wednesday’s first day of full construction on his new Wynn Boston Harbor Hotel in Massachusetts.
Steve’s new 1,700-room property is just 12 minutes from Logan Airport, and he’ll oversee the first day of construction with thousands of workers onsite at the Mystic River.
STAR SURVEILLANCE
ABSINTHE’s wacky star and impresario The Gazillionaire kept his four bodyguards close when four-time Mr. Olympia and Las Vegas pro bodybuilder Jay Cutler went backstage for photographs after seeing the raucous show at Caesars Palace.
It’s not the expected hangout for a rapper, but Nelly along with a group of friends decided that the new Topgolf Las Vegas was the perfect spot for Sunday night, so much so that he stayed past midnight.
GHOSTBUSTERS star Leslie Jones joined fans of R&B crooner Jeremih for his full-length concert at Drai’s Nightclub atop the Cromwell. Leslie went on Twitter to encourage people to join her at Drai’s, saying “It’s dope as hell.”
TONIGHT IN L.V.
The Tony Award- and Academy Award-winning musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC begins its two-week run at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts through Aug. 14. Be sure to read our preview story with cast member Teri Hansen (Baroness Schraeder). The hills are alive in this new production directed by Tony winner Jack O’Brien. It’s the spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of Maria and the Von Trapp family. You’ll be singing “Do-Re-Mi,” too!
TOMORROW IN L.V.
Two more Las Vegas chefs continue the guest columns for our Chef’s Week salute, plus one of the most gorgeous classic car collections of rare and iconic automobiles — more than 80 of them — are headed to Las Vegas for the October Barrett-Jackson auto auction.
