Red Carpet Report: ‘America’s Got Talent,’ ‘Absinthe,’ Monte Carlo expansion, Brian Evans video

It was a death-defying stunt on NBC’s AMERICA’S GOT TALENT that stunned and horrified TV viewers as a flaming arrow misfired and struck circus performer Ryan Stock’s neck and stuck in his skin. Now I can exclusively reveal that Ryan and his girlfriend, Amber Lynn, who fired the arrow, are bringing their show of shocks to Hooters Casino in September.
X BURLESQUE producers Angela and Matt Stabile have signed the daredevils to stage their show at Hooters. Ryan is a TV stunt performer from Edmonton who starred on The Discovery Channel’s GUINEA PIG.
He is known for specializing in automobile crashes, electric shocks and intentional poisoning. His signature piece is titled “The Human Meathead,” where he forces a meat hook into his nose and out of his mouth, with which he then hangs objects weighing as much as 70 pounds.
Ryan holds 5 Guinness Book of World Records, including one for pulling an Audi Quattro for 20 seconds by a sword inserted into his throat. He also has used that hook through the nose and mouth to pull an automobile for Italian television. Ryan also holds a record for most blowtorches extinguished on a tongue in 60 seconds – 40.
On Season 11 of AGT’s quarterfinals Aug. 2, they were to end their act with a stunt in which Amber would shoot a flaming arrow at Ryan, who had swallowed a rod with a target on it. A scope slippage on the crossbow caused the arrow to misfire and strike his neck. Ryan suffered minor injuries, and the duo was eliminated.
Angela confirmed the new Hooters show and told me: “It’s absolutely amazing what Ryan can do onstage. It’s unlike anything that has ever been seen in Las Vegas, and he will prove that he is able to catch the flaming arrow in his throat without the malfunction that happened on TV.”
Ryan will become the fifth AGT performer with his own show in Las Vegas following Terry Fator, Michael Grimm, Mat Franco and Paul Zerdin, all four of whom won their seasons.
ABSINTHE’S NEW HOME
After five years of packed audiences under the tent at Caesars Palace, the wacky, sexually charged ABSINTHE is moving out, ending its run Friday, Oct. 21, and relocating to The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. ABSINTHE producer The Gazillionaire revealed the new deal this morning after Tuesday’s successful negotiations with The Cosmopolitan President Bill McBeath were wrapped up.
Spiegelworld impresario Ross Mollison said: “I knew nothing about this deal until The Gazillionaire told me this morning.” In an email, The Gazillionaire explained: “I was just getting ready to pack up my tent and move to Miami, but last night I was offered a deal that I couldn’t pass up.”
Ross and The Gazillionaire decided to end the Caesars location because of a ticket-share dispute with co-producers Base Entertainment, who will not be involved with the new location.
HALLOWEEN HORRORS
“The Creature at the Bates Motel” Halloween video with Las Vegas crooner Brian Evans and featuring The Luxor comedian headliner Carrot Top has drawn such enthusiasm that plans are in the works to create a TV series inspired by the film shot for the first time at the Alfred Hitchcock PSYCHO set at Universal Studios in Hollywood. “The show will be a modern take on THE TWILIGHT ZONE series,” Brian told me.
He’s working with Carrot Top’s manager, Dan O’Leary, on its development. The duo also are developing Brian’s book “The Funny Robbers” written with Carrot Top in mind as a movie. Elvira endorsed the “The Creature at the Bates Motel” video at the recent Scare L.A. Horror and Halloween convention. The Mistress of the Dark said: “It’s a true legacy as the first new Halloween song to hit the market in decades. It’s the next ‘Monster Mash’ hit.”
Brian, who amassed 12 million views on YouTube with his William Shatner duet “At Fenway,” will perform with the STAR TREK star Dec. 30 at the Maui concert series that Brian produces. He also will open there for Belinda Carlisle on March 11. While planning a new series of back-home appearances, Brian will film his next YouTube music video, “This Town,” here, too.
MONTE CARLO EXPANSION
To make way for two new luxury hotel experiences at Monte Carlo, its pool and retail outlets along the Street of Dreams (including The Pub) will close as of Oct. 3. The two hotels as part of the $45 million transformation are the NoMad Las Vegas and Park MGM, and Mario Batali’s retail food emporium Eataly will be located where Monte Carlo meets the Strip.
