Q+A: Shervin Roohparvar of ‘Shahs of Sunset’ hosts at Sapphire Pool & Dayclub

There is no denying that Shervin Roohparvar is a standout on SHAHS OF SUNSET, Bravo’s reality-TV series that follows a group of Persian-American friends in Los Angeles. “Alpha Sherv,” 35, is handsome, driven, successful and prone to take off his shirt to show off his body.

“I’m a very take-charge, alpha personality. I don’t think I’d be able to function if I weren’t,” Roohparvar said.

Roohparvar, whose Las Vegas itinerary included attending Jennifer Lopez’s resident show ALL I HAVE at Axis at Planet Hollywood on Friday night, answered questions over the phone Aug. 4 ahead of hosting today at Sapphire Pool & Dayclub.

I understand that you absolutely love Las Vegas. Why do you love Las Vegas?

(Laughs) Las Vegas is, um, how can I describe Las Vegas? It’s a world of unlimited imagination because reality there is having a drink in the world’s largest Swarovski crystal chandelier. Las Vegas is like a dream come to life.

You were the newest member of SHAHS OF SUNSET this past Season 5. How’d you get enlisted for the show?

They were casting. I was actually in Season 4, a secondary character. The casting director and I had a mutual friend, and they wanted different, interesting people for Season 5. My name came up, and I jumped along the casting process along with 900 people. I don’t know what they found so interesting about me!

I didn’t know if I wanted to do it because I was from the tech industry and had no clue about the entertainment world and the casting scene experience in and of itself. But then they made me an offer, and one thing led to another.

How’d it go for you, and you’ll be back for Season 6 when it begins filming in September?

I’m really excited to get back into it. It’s been a hell of a ride. When I chose to take the offer, I thought to myself not everyone gets this opportunity. I’ve watched television my whole life, so getting to know the other side of the screen interested me, the mechanics.

It’s surreal to be on the treadmill at the gym and watch myself and people doing a double take and recognizing me. It’s weird and very surreal in a good way. It’s a lot of fun. In Season 4, I remember being nervous, like, “Can they hear my heartbeat?”

With Season 5, I couldn’t wait to do it. I felt better about it. It was still challenging, but you feel more and more comfortable with your cast mates and the production crew. You become you truer self.

What can your fans expect when you host at Sapphire Pool & Dayclub on Saturday, Aug. 13?

(Laughs) a sh*t show. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Anything goes. I’m excited about it because it’s my cousin’s 21st birthday and his first time in Las Vegas. Could it get any better?

And you’ll be shirtless – I mean your nickname is “Alpha Sherv” for a reason, right?

Shirtless Sherv! I’m definitely going to avoid late-night binging the night before.

You’re obviously in great shape and very handsome. What are some of your health and fitness secrets?

Dedication. That is it. There is no secret potion or exercise. In fact, I’m on my way to the gym right now. It’s 5 p.m., and I’m in L.A. I don’t want to be on my way to the gym in this gridlock, but it’s all about dedication.

What do you consider to be your best asset — physically, or another trait?

I’m a very take-charge, alpha personality. I don’t think I’d be able to function if I weren’t.

What are your favorite things to do in Las Vegas?

I definitely love the pool parties. They’re my favorite. And Las Vegas is densely populated with incredible restaurants. I love Gordon Ramsay Steak. There are new restaurants every time I’m in town. I love checking out the pool parties and new restaurants.

What is one thing your fans would be surprised to learn about you?

I used to live in Las Vegas. I was 22 years old. There are parts that I remember that all in all were a mistake, like when the sun was coming up when leaving the club (laughs). My maturity level was certainly not there yet.

Describe the perfect woman who would land Shervin’s heart.

The younger version of my mother! Any guy with a brain would say that. If I met a woman like that, I’ve won.

You’re a very busy man with headphones (Munitio), a retail and fashion line (Estate), the lifestyle/nightlife brand 1923 Management and SHAHS OF SUNSET. How do you juggle it all?

I need to have a lot of things going on to concentrate. I like it. I enjoy the challenge, to be maxed out on my plate. Life is precious, and you should live and use it to the max. It would take three people to live my life because I take advantage of ever precious day of my life. I’m where I need to be — that’s the average day in Sherv’s life.

You’re a Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers fan. Any predictions on their next seasons?

I’m a Giants fan, too. I’m a Bay Area kid. The Giants did alright, and the Warriors had a phenomenal season even if they didn’t win the championship again. Then the 49ers, not all the teams can be great at the same time (laughs), but we have five rings for a reason. The sixth ring is only a matter of time.

What still remains on your to do list in Las Vegas?

I haven’t done the machine guns yet and the exotic cars, but I have my own guns and cars. It’s a Las Vegas thing to do, so it’s on my list.
