Phil Shabat of Dave & Buster’s: One-stop-shop entertainment opens in Downtown Summerlin

Editor’s Note: After a glorious nearly month-long family vacation in the Italian and Sicilian countryside, Robin Leach is back and resuming his new daily columns today with his debut Friday Neon column in the Las Vegas Review-Journal that’s a preview of next week’s Magic Live! convention for 1,600 worldwide magicians, conjurors, illusionists and would-be Harry Potter wizards. On Sunday in the RJ’s Sunday Life, Robin turns the spotlight on Gordon Ramsay and the topless temptresses at FANTASY.

We’ll continue guest columnists in August while Robin works from the cooler climes of La Jolla near San Diego in advance of our newly-designed website launching soon. Today, one of his guest columns is by Wendy Albert, senior marketing director at The Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. The other is by new Las Vegas resident Phil Shabat, who has just opened Dave & Busters in Downtown Summerlin. Here’s Phil with insights into D&B:

By Phil Shabat

Dave & Buster’s, the entertainment hotspot known for its chef-crafted food, beverages and entertainment offerings, opened its first location in Nevada last weekend in Downtown Summerlin. We’re very glad to finally be here!

Fun fact: Dave & Buster’s, yes, two real guys (Dave Coriveau and Buster Corley) started it more than 30 years ago in Dallas. It all began when Buster opened an eatery known for its food and service. Meanwhile, Dave opened an entertainment playground for adults a few doors down. The two entrepreneurs opted to join forces and combined their concepts into one capitalizing on great good, service and entertainment.

And so Dave & Buster’s launched in 1982. Since then, more than 80 locations have opened across the country. I’ve already met many people in Las Vegas who are familiar with Dave & Buster’s from other markets, and they have a difficult time containing their enthusiasm for our arrival here.

The Downtown Summerlin location will not disappoint. It will feature more than 140 of the latest and greatest games, the best food, innovative drinks and ultimate sports viewing at D&B Sports, where you can watch and play games. Dave & Buster’s also will offer 10 new games, including Star Wars Battle Pod, Quik Drop, Arcade Crossy Road, Mario & Sonic, Grand Piano Keys and Ghostbusters Arcade.

After you’ve built up your appetite with our one-stop-shop entertainment, allow us to tantalize your taste buds with our chef-crafted fare. Boasting an assortment of new American cuisine, Dave & Buster’s signature dishes include The Caveman Combo, Short Ribs & Cheesy Mac Stack, The Lawnmower, Crispy Steak ’n’ Cheese Tater Cakes (my personal favorite!) and Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp & Chicken with Creamy Lobster Sauce. Our 60-plus-option menu is available from open (11:30 a.m.) to close (1 a.m.).

And let’s not forget the drinks! Our premium bar features one-of-a-kind cocktails, wine and domestic and imported beers. Cool down this summer with our signature Strawberry Watermelon Margarita, South of the Border Sangrias and our original Snow Cone and Cherry Limeade Glow Cone. These are a small sampling of the many libations that will cool you down during Las Vegas’ long, hot summer.

Our Downtown Summerlin location also will offer private rooms to host the perfect meeting, special event or party. Our event planners will work with you from start to finish to ensure that your vision is complete and top-notch. Best of all, once the work is done, our Million Dollar Midway is yours for the taking with hundreds of state-of-the-art games.

As a native Chicagoan, I’m excited to call Las Vegas home and look forward to meeting and interacting with Southern Nevadans while showcasing this dynamic entertainment destination. Come see us. Ask for Phil.

Be sure to check out our other guest column today from Wendy Albert, who knows a lot about shopping, shoes and food at The Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. In his debut column in Friday Neon of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Robin provides a preview of next week’s Magic Live! convention for magicians and illusionists from all over the world.
