Park Theater at Monte Carlo resident headliner … Britney Spears?

Hold your horses! Pop princess Britney Spears might not be leaving Las Vegas as fast as you think even though her hit residency “Britney: Piece of Me” ends at Axis at Planet Hollywood on New Year’s Eve.

I’m reliably hearing from more than a couple of well-placed sources that entertainment officials with MGM Resorts have made a “richer offer” for Britney to sign on for a residency run with a new show at The Park at Monte Carlo.

It’s being considered even while Britney’s management team is on an Asian scouting trip to see if concerts in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand can be added to her summer touring plans after Israel in July and as the singer wraps her vacation in Hawaii.

The proposed plan reportedly is that Britney would continue to appear on the Strip but would perform less shows over a longer period of time so that she could tackle a new album in Los Angeles and add European tour dates.

Apparently MGM entertainment officials have been ordered to make an “all-out bid” to sign stars for its roster of theaters, arenas and event centers. “They want to have as many relevant stars under the MGM roof as possible to avoid them going to new venues planned for Las Vegas.

“They intend to dominate the market in entertainment and want their competition left high and dry for many years to come,” I was told. “Britney is the first target of that plan. Give her whatever she wants to keep her in Las Vegas. This way she gets to do everything she wants to do and still stay here.”

An insider at Britney’s camp told me: “She loves Las Vegas. She loves performing in Las Vegas, so it is a real possibility going forward. Nothing is signed yet, and although ‘Piece of Me” will end Dec. 31, our next move is undecided. We are still talking with Caesars Entertainment for Planet Hollywood and other interested parties in Las Vegas.”
