It’s an entertainment bonanza this weekend in Las Vegas — and that’s a full week before Lady Gaga brings her outrageous Joanne concert to town.
So here’s the thing. …. I’m seated in Harrah’s showroom on the Las Vegas Strip looking at the stage and still can’t believe I have my own show here. It still blows my mind that after all these years fighting to reach the end goal, we have finally made it as Las Vegas headliners. Walking down the Strip and seeing our billboards makes me realize how far we’ve come and how far we are from home.
Day 45 (Aug. 4) Bonnie Springs in Old Nevada – A popular attraction that is good for all ages. This ranch offers a shooting gallery, museum and petting zoo.
I recorded a new CD which I’m really proud of. It’s being released in the U.S. and in Europe, and it features songs which I describe as being in a “modern Julie London seductive nightclub style.” I plan to send one to Robin so he can listen to it as he sips champagne by the pool while the rest of us are working our “assets” off.
I ’m a comedienne — a very physical one. One day, after a particularly intense performance in Chicago, an audience member came up and presented me with a crystal. A crystal that had fallen out of my bra while performing. I was busted!
The extraordinary talented jazz vocal group, The Four Freshmen, appear on the live “Dennis Bono Show” at the South Point. Also, appearing on this 17th-year show is beautiful singer Rita Lim, singer-songwriter Chadwick Johnson, comedy king Dennis Blair and the pop and opera stylings of The Phat Pack.
Since its arrival in Las Vegas, the Tao Group has gone from success to success — not just with its flagship restaurant and nightclub at The Venetian and Lavo at the Palazzo but its growth to the Cosmopolitan with Marquee nightclub and the new Beauty & Essex restaurant. In its takeover of the Southwest, the Tao Group also has expanded to Los Angeles with several properties, including the new Dream hotel in Hollywood with a Vegas-styled nightlife that adds the Luchini pizzeria to its lineup.
Day 44 (Aug. 3) Hollywood Cars Museum – home to the most famous movie cars such as the DeLorean from “Back to The Future” at Hollywood Cars Museum.
Just what can’t entertainer CeeLo Green do? The musical superstar is an amazing singer, writer and performer — and he can even dance in a lineup the Rockettes might be envious of!. The energy he puts out has megawatt power and is so infectious everybody at his Caesars Palace show is up out of their seats jiving along with appropriate whoops and cheers.
What a way to celebrate the first anniversary with the return from Broadway of original cast member Ruby Lewis, who won recognition in the Palazzo production that took her to the Great White Way, to launch “Paramour” for Cirque du Soleil. The Broadway star put on a breath-taking performance in her return to the Palazzo.
With the brand-new arrival of a new baby dolphin — as of yet unnamed — at Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage, there are now three generations of the beautiful ocean-going animals at play there.
The “X Girls” produced by Angela and Matt Stabile are known for featuring stunning women in all of their hit shows. “X-Country” girls, in particular, must possess a “girl-next-door” look to get through the audition. Our producers look for dancers well-versed in contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop, and who can also perform aerial straps and pole, which narrows down applicants quickly.
Superstar Cher returns to her on-and-off residency at the Park Theater in the Monte Carlo riding in on an elephant and still flashing her flesh in thigh-high boots, see-through body-stockings and that amazing mane of hair. It’s classic Cher with all her hits through Aug. 19.
There’s no question this has been a brutal summer here in Las Vegas. There seems no respite from 100-plus degree days. Even at nighttime when temperatures dip a few notches on the thermometers it still seems as if there’s no real break from the brutal heat. Is it possible to stay cool — or at least feel cooler — in the August heat? After all, it’s not until Sept. 24 that we start getting down to highs of 96 and then takes until Oct. 15 before we get down to daytime highs of 76 degrees. So be prepared for at least another 10 weeks of scorching daytime temperatures.
