Is ‘Absinthe’ staying at Caesars Palace or moving to The Cosmopolitan?

The fate of where the highly successful erotic and outrageous ABSINTHE lives is becoming more mysterious as the days tick by. Originally, the cast and some of us privy to The Gazillionaire’s secrets were reliably told that the final show in the tent outside Caesars Palace would be Friday, Oct. 21.
I was even told by a top ABSINTHE insider that shows in its new home at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas would begin shortly thereafter before the calendar flipped over to November.
However, I learned over the weekend that not only does The Cosmopolitan not have any tickets for sale yet posted or advertised, but Caesars also is selling tickets to the hit production ABSINTHE through Dec. 18.
Attempts to get official statements from any of the parties involved failed probably because the situation is an integral part of a lawsuit among ABSINTHE owners Spiegelworld, Ticketmaster and producers Base Entertainment.
Base has closed, or is about to close, four shows: PUPPET UP! at The Venetian, which Las Vegas Review-Journal colleague John Katsilometes exclusively revealed Sunday; Paul Zerdin’s MOUTHING OFF ventriloquism show and Frankie Moreno’s UNDER THE INFLUENCE both at Planet Hollywood; and JERSEY BOYS, which ends Sunday at Paris Las Vegas.
The ABSINTHE dispute and uncertainty is about to wind up in state court when everybody will find out if the show can bolt for new quarters or will stay until the lease option taking it through October 2018 is resolved. Maybe it can be settled with all sides giving a little ground so that there’s a one-year stay, then a move?
