SAYING GOODBYE

Beloved F&B kingpin Sebastien Silvestri at The Venetian and The Palazzo is saying farewell to Las Vegas at the end of the month and relocating to Miami. He’s mum about what he’ll be doing there but reveals that he will still be connected to the hospitality industry.

His final assignment here will be a cocktail party at the new Venetian bar The Dorsey after he’s orchestrated the Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro dinner at Buddy V’s Ristorante there for the closing night of Vegas Uncork’d.

JUST ASKING

Is a theatrical musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe, Hollywood’s original blonde bombshell pinup, headed to Las Vegas? Born as Norma Jean Mortenson on June 1, 1926, her difficult childhood was spent in foster care and orphanages.

She dreamed of emulating her idols Jean Harlow and Lana Turner and signed her first movie contract in 1946 when she was given the new name of Marilyn. She would have been 91 this June but died at age 36 on Aug. 5, 1962.

A portion of the show’s proceeds will be earmarked for The Hollygrove Children and Family Services facility that provides health and wellness to girls dealing with family struggles. Marilyn lived at Hollygrove when it was known as Los Angeles Orphan Home.

The Mirage headliner Terry Fator continues to show his support for aspiring ventriloquists by creating a scholarship program that helps up-and-coming performers pursue a career in ventriloquism.

This year, Terry will give away two scholarships to contestants who showcase their best ventriloquist and puppeteering skills. He’s organized an online competition that asks contestants to be submit a 1-minute video showcasing their best ventriloquist skills, along with a written essay as to why they should be chosen.

All entries must be received by May 26, with the announcements of winners June 5. Go to TerryFator.com/Scholarship-Entry or details. Terry’s scholarships will be named after the late Clinton Detweiler, former president of the North American Association of Ventriloquists.

FINGERPRINT SPECIALISTS

Las Vegas husband-and-wife power couple nightlife kingpin Dave Pappas and Monica Pappas, a former Maxim model beauty, have launched Fingerprinting Express to offer digital fingerprint background checks.

On Friday, they open their first location at 6485 S. Rainbow Boulevard. Their two other stores have been open in Northern Nevada for 10 years. Children get their own day there Saturday when they get free Kids Identity sheets.

The couple met in 2007 at Revolution Lounge at The Mirage where Dave was a managing partner and wed in 2009. Monica was a VP of Marketing for The Light Group. Nevada agencies and FBI recognize and accept Monica and Dave’s fingerprinting system that helps nationwide background security checks.
