Country stars honor first responders
October 20, 2017 - 12:33 pm
Bravo! More than 8,000 fans, including 3,000 first responders, turned out for A Night of Healing last evening (Oct. 19) with Fox News TV host Sean Hannity introducing the country stars, who performed at The Orleans Arena. Among those who put on special presentations were Big & Rich, who played the Rt 91 Harvest Festival concerts before the gun massacre. Others included Rascall Flatts, Sierra Black and blue-collar comedian Ron White. Garth Brooks sent a video message of support to the first responders who were saluted at the tribute. Our thanks to contributing photographer Tom Donoghue for his exclusive photo coverage of the moving night of entertainment.

Oct. 21 is the sixth annual Walk for Water, presented by One Drop to raise funds and awareness for critical water issues worldwide. Ricardo Laguna, professional BMX rider will host the 3-mile walk from Symphony Park to the Springs Preserve with Cirque du Soleil performers led by Khalid Freeman, founder of Soul Clap Fitness. Mayor Carolyn Goodman will wish the walkers well as they each carry a bucket with water. All proceeds will benefit local water conservation and educational efforts in the Las Vegas community.
Tickets are now on sale for the sixth annual One Night for “One Drop” show inspired by Grammy-nominated singer songwriter Jewel, to be held March 2 at the Michael Jackson One Theater in Mandalay Bay. Click here for details. The show is written and directed by husband-and-wife Cirque team Nicky and Laetitia Dewhurst, who created the 2017 “One Drop” show with DJ Redfoo and actor William Shatner and more than 100 Cirque performers.

Its Pride weekend for the Human Rights and NoHate (NoH8) organizations at the Living Room of the W Hotel at SLS closing with a drag-queen entertainment show in The Foundry on Saturday night with Ru Paul’s Drag race stars, including Shannel, Derrick Barry as Britney Spears, Coco Montese, Desiree St. James, Elektra Del Rio and India Farrah.
……
The charismatic music of Prince still hypnotizes his fans and this weekend’s musical highlight will be the Morris Day and the Time show taking place on Saturday in an old-school party jam at The Orleans Arena with The Sugarhill Gang and Midnight Star. Without a doubt, Morris Day and The Time are one of the baddest bands on earth and to say their show will be electrifying and memorizing is still an understatement.
……
The weekend highlight has to be the star-studded go-kart racing event staged for charity at Gene Woods Racing near McCarran International Airport by comedy magician Mike Hammer of the Four Queens Hotel. Even I’m going to get behind the wheel of the mini-monsters and race the track against electric violinist Lydia Asel, “Fantasy” dancer Mariah Riviera and tattooed bikini model Dixie Miranda to raise funds. Tough to win though, against magicians Lance Burton, Mac King, Murray Sawchuck, Fielding West and veteran Johnny Thompson with tricks up their sleeve including the gorgeous girls of “Sexxy” at the Westgate.
So let’s drop the chequered flag, fire the starters gun and announce this weekends celebrity preview that we affectionately call the Royal Robin Rundown:
